Responsible for discovering the structure of water and graphite using X-ray crystallography and kick starting the field of molecular biology and many more. His science career is even more remarkable. One of the few people who during that period had meetings at the White House, 10 downing street, the Kremlin and in China with general Mao. After the war, he became president of the world peace council championing world peace in the new era of weapons of mass destruction. ![]() Nicknamed the "sage" due to his encyclopaedic knowledge, he was arguably the first renegade scientist, becoming science advisor to Winston Churchill despite his communist beliefs during WW2 and helped plan the famous invasion of Normandy. ![]()
